Foundation of the 24-hour day.
People are working on a faulty premise, assuming the light was here first.
Genesis 1:1-5
1. In the beginning YHWH created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of YHWH moved upon the face of the waters.
3. And YHWH said, Let there be light: and there was light. 4And YHWH saw the light, that it was good: and YHWH divided the light from the darkness. 5And YHWH called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.
Notice that the darkness that was here before the light is the same darkness that the light was divided from and is the same darkness that was called night/evening. It was not the darkness that normally follows light but the darkness that was before the light is what is spoken of Genesis one. This destroys the theory that light came before darkness.
My understanding of Genesis 1:1-5 looks like the above, night, day, night, day. The night/darkness/evening came before the light/day/morning.
Your understanding of Genesis 1:1-5 looks like this, light, dark, light, dark. The light/day/morning came before the darkness/night/evening.
How can you honestly read this Scripture and get light before darkness??????? And when you add all the conclusive examples where the day began at evening, there's no room for error, only strong delusions.

When discussing the Creator's calendar, as to when a day or month begins, some people use Scripture that has nothing to do with the calendar to persuade the unsuspecting that their view is right.
The verse they use is, “we are the children of light, not of darkness” in“sin”uating that anyone who begins a day or month when it is dark are the children of darkness and they that began the day and month at first light, are the children of light and that verse proves it.
It is aggravating and immoral, to say the least, for intelligent people to twist the understanding of Scripture to try to convince the unsuspecting client that they have the truth as to when the day or month begins.
A true child of the light will follow the instructions in the Scripture/Torah as to when the day and month begins, regardless if it is at night or day. Because it says, “if they walk not according to this Law, it is because there is no light in them at all” and the Law says, from evening to the evening, shall you observe his Sabbath. If that Sabbath was observed from evening to evening, then the day before also ended when the Sabbath began and the day before that done the same all the way back to creation and the day after that Sabbath ended at evening, the next day began and will do so until He comes.
I know of people that began the month at full moon and quote’s, “we are of the children of light, not of darkness” the very same verse as the ones that begins the month at the visible crescent. Which ones are the true children of light??? The ones that began their month when the moon is full of light, or the ones that began the month at the first visible crescent?
The answer is obvious using this line of twisted thinking.
I know of people who begin the day at 12 NOON, when the light of the sun at its brightest, are these people more children of the light, than the ones that began the day at the crack of dawn???? ABSOLUTELY, when using this same line of twisted thinking.
I suggest people using this line of twisted thinking, to try to be in the hundred fold and begin their day at high NOON and their month at full moon when the moon is full of light. (That is if they really believe the Scripture that is quoted by them really makes them more children of light). As of this day I know no one that keeps both of these, only one or the other, yet both quote, “we are the children of light not of darkness”
I admonish everyone to keep the verse in its context and not try to lead someone to your persuasion even if your persuasion was correct, this verse has nothing to do with the Creator's calendar and should not be used out of context. A true child of the light will follow Scripture which teaches that everything began in darkness, even the Heavens and Earth, a baby in its mother’s womb, a seed that is planted, etc. we must truly walk in the light and begin the month and day in darkness as the Scripture teaches. A child of the darkness will not follow the Scripture because there's no light in him, and therefore he tries to create his own light/understanding.
There are people who do not use the moon at all and are solar only who uses this phrase to prove their are children of the light and anyone who uses the moon in their calendar, are children of darkness.
The Encyclopedia says, The Egyptians were the first to abandon the lunar calendar, probably because of they were sun worshipers. I guess someone could say they were really children of the light, according to this children of light logic.

Shalom all,
In order for a 24 hour day to begin at evening, according to some, the Scripture would have to read something like this.
Genesis 1:1-5
In the beginning YHWH created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and light was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of YHWH moved upon the face of the waters.
3And YHWH said, Let there be darkness: and there was darkness. 4And YHWH saw the darkness, that it was good: and YHWH divided the darkness from the light. 5And YHWH called the darkness Night, and the light he called Day. And the morning and the evening were the first day. (i.e. it became morning and it became evening, day one)
I have reversed the light and darkness and if the Scripture read like this, some would say this proves the twenty-four hour day begins at evening instead of sunrise, even though you had examples that prove otherwise.
I will twist other Scripture for the sake of showing the fallacy of the sunrise theory.
Let's say on top of Genesis one you had many examples that said, “ and he shall be unclean until sunrise”.
And as the gates of Jerusalem began to grow light before the Sabbath.
The Day of Atonement shall be kept from the 9th day at sunrise, from sunrise to sunrise shall you observe my Sabbath.
Unleavened bread is on the 15th and is to be kept for seven days, from the 14th day at sunrise until the 21st day at sunrise.
Sampson had a bet with some men and they had seven days to answerer the riddle and they answered it on the seventh day before sunrise
The women came very early to the tomb after the Sabbath had passed at sunrise and then bought spices.
I think most of you get my point, and I ask you could you honestly say the day began at evening if the Scriptures read as the above????? I certainly would change my view and say the Scripture teaches the 24 hour day begins at sunrise instead of evening.

If the lambs were killed on the 14th between the evenings and eaten with Unleavened bread which begins on the 15th, (Lev-23:6) and the 1st born was smitten at midnight, on the 15th while the children of Israel were eating unleavened bread with the Passover lamb, how could they be driven out from Rameses the next morning on the 15th (Num-33:3) unless the 15th day began at evening??? A night to be much remembered.
The following shows an example where the15th day actually began the split second that the 14th day ended at night/evening
We know that the 15th day is the first day of unleavened bread according to Leviticus 23.
We also know that we are to eat unleavened bread for seven days of according to Exodus chapter 12:15.
We also know that this seven day period begins the 14th day at evening until the 21st day at evening according to Exodus 12:18.
Now some people claim that this was a unique event where the day does begin at evening but let's go back and see if the day actually began at evening.
In Exodus chapter 12 says that the passover is to be killed on the 14th day between the evenings and eaten that night with unleavened bread. The phrase that night is synonymous with that evening and is referring to the end of the 14th day when they began the first day of eating unleavened bread as it says, from the 14th day at evening until the 21st day at evening.
The eating of Unleavened bread began at night and continued seven days and ended at night, at the end of the 21st day. Now knowing that the 15th is the first day of unleavened bread and it began on the 14th day at evening, i.e. when the 14th day ended at evening, the 15th day began at the same evening that ended the 14th.
As we look back we see that they were not to leave their houses that night until the morning (of the 15th) and they were driven out of Ramses on the same 15th day that began when the 14th day ended at evening/night. {See Numbers 33:3}
Here we have a conclusive example of the 24hr day beginning immediately after the previous day ended at evening/dark. We not only how the Scripture that tells us to do this, but an actual example where it was done like this.
